Women’s Health Physiotherapy

Women’s Health Physiotherapy focuses on your ‘Pelvic Health’, which looks at your pelvic floor and core function. Having a dysfunctional pelvic floor and core can lead to conditions that may impact your day-to-day life. Pelvic Health Physiotherapy provides assessment and therapeutic treatment with lifestyle advice to improve your quality of life.

Conditions we may see are:

·       Urinary incontinence

·       Urinary frequency & urgency (including overactive bladder)

·       Pelvic Organ Prolapse

·       Pelvic pain (including pain associated with endometriosis)

·       Pregnancy related pelvic girdle pain

·       Vaginal pain (including vaginismus and vulvodynia)

·       Dyspareunia (pain during intercourse)

·       Pelvic floor muscle weakness / tightness

·       Constipation and some bowel leakage concerns

·       Diastasis recti (separation of the abdominal muscle wall, usually following pregnancy)

·       Postnatal care and return to exercise

Prior to being seen by our pelvic health specialist physiotherapist, we may ask you to see your relevant doctor or consultant to ensure efficient and appropriate care, and we hope you understand that some concerns may not be suitable for physiotherapy.  We may also ask you to complete a quick emailed form that we can review prior to your first appointment to once again ensure that we are the appropriate profession for your condition.  We are always evidence-based in all of our assessments and interventions.
