Meet The Team Pencoed

Hayley O’Brien

I originally qualified from the University of Wales Institute Cardiff within an undergraduate degree in Sports and Exercise Science, before deciding to retrain as a Physiotherapist. I graduated from Cardiff University with a First Class honours in Physiotherapy in 2012.

I completed my junior rotations in Cardiff and Vale UHB gaining experience in all core areas of Physiotherapy. I then spent the next 3 years working at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, London, focusing on the rehabilitation of patients following complex orthopaedic surgery.

Since returning to Wales I have worked as a Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist within Aneurin Bevan health board, and I am currently working as a clinical specialist in A&E at Cwm Taf.

Alongside my NHS role I have a keen interest in sports injuries, particularly within football. I have experience providing match day cover at Chelsea Football Club Academy and I have spent the last two seasons covering matches at Swansea City Academy. I have completed my first aid training with the FA.

I enjoy treating a range of musculoskeletal problems, with my main interests including acute injuries, sports injuries and orthopaedic rehabilitation.
